AVG 2010 \u2014 The firewall settings must be set to \u201cALLOW ALL\u201d<\/b> in order to run Anonymizer Universal on your computer as we were unable to achieve compatibility in working with AVG.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n AVG 2011 \u2014 Needs no special configuration at default security settings.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n To ensure your software firewall is not blocking Anonymizer Universal\u201a please configure your BitDefender connection so it will allow the Anonymizer Universal connection and unblock VPN traffic. To do so\u201a follow these steps.<\/i><\/p>\n Open the BitDefender Internet Security interface by double-clicking on the BitDefender icon at the bottom right-hand side of your computer screen near the clock (in Windows 7 you may have to first click the triangular \u201cShow Hidden Icons\u201d<\/b> to find this icon). You will see the interface below.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n Click \u201cFirewall\u201d<\/b> on the menu on the left.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n Scroll down on the right and click \u201cAdvanced.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n <\/div>\n You will see the menu below. Double click on rule 25\u201a \u201csvchost.exe.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n <\/div>\n The following window will appear.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n In the \u201cAction\u201d<\/b> section\u201a choose \u201cAllow\u201a\u201d<\/b> and then \u201cOK.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n <\/div>\n And then \u201cClose\u201d<\/b> in the \u201cAdvanced Rules\u201d<\/b> Window.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n Close your BitDefender software.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n Bit Defender 2011<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n We have found that customers using ESET Smart Security have had problems connecting to Anonymizer Universal. Despite creating rules in ESET to allow all the appropriate traffic\u201a ESET will still block the Anonymizer Universal connection.<\/i><\/p>\n To begin\u201a open the ESET Smart Security interface by double-clicking on the ESET icon on the bottom right-hand corner of your screen (next to the clock). On the menu on the left\u201a click \u201cSetup.<\/b>\u201d<\/p>\n <\/div>\n Then\u201a from the menu illustrated below\u201a click \u201cPersonal Firewall<\/b>\u201d and click on \u201cAdvanced Personal Firewall Setup.<\/b>\u201d<\/p>\n <\/p>\n With the Personal Firewall option selected on the left\u201a change the Filtering Mode on the right to \u201cAutomatic mode with exceptions.<\/b>\u201d Click \u201cOK.<\/b>\u201d<\/p>\n <\/div>\n You will now be back on the Personal firewall menu. Click on \u201cConfigure Rules and Zones.<\/b>\u201d<\/p>\n Click the \u201cNew<\/b>\u201d button on the bottom left.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n Next\u201a create the rule for Anonymizer Universal. With the \u201cGeneral<\/b>\u201d tab selected on the top of the window\u201a please enter the following settings in the window that appears (see the screenshot for details).<\/p>\n <\/div>\n Then\u201a click on the \u201cRemote<\/b>\u201d tab at the top of the window\u201a and then \u201cAdd Address.<\/b>\u201d Under Type\u201a select \u201cAddress range.<\/b>\u201d Input the following settings (see screenshot below):<\/p>\n <\/div>\n Click \u201cOK.<\/b>\u201d<\/p>\n <\/div>\n Click \u201cOK<\/b>\u201d once again\u201a and then \u201cApply.<\/b>\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Open Anonymizer Universal and click \u201cConnect.<\/b>\u201d<\/p>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n ESET 2011<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n To ensure your software firewall is not blocking Anonymizer Universal\u201a please configure your Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 Firewall connection so it will allow the Anonymizer Universal connection and unblock VPN traffic. To do so\u201a access your Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 software and follow these steps.<\/i><\/p>\n Open the main application window and click \u201cSettings\u201d<\/b> in the right upper corner.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n Select \u201cFirewall\u201d<\/b> in the \u201cProtection\u201d<\/b> section. Please make sure that the \u201cFirewall\u201d<\/b> component is enabled by checking the \u201cEnable Firewall\u201d<\/b> box. Click the \u201cSettings\u201d<\/b> button.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n Then, click the \u201cFiltering rules\u201d<\/b> tab in the \u201cFirewall\u201d<\/b> window; Click \u201cAdd\u201d<\/b> link.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n Select \u201cAllow\u201d<\/b> in the \u201cNetwork rule\u201d<\/b> window in the \u201cAction\u201d<\/b> section. Select \u201cAdd\u201d<\/b> in the \u201cNetwork service\u201d<\/b> portion of the window.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n Enter the following settings in the \u201cNetwork Rule.\u201d<\/b> Enter the Name \u201cAnonymizer Universal. \u201d<\/b> For the \u201cProtocol\u201d<\/b> section, check the \u201cProtocol\u201d<\/b> checkbox and select \u201cUDP\u201d<\/b> in the dropdown menu. In the \u201cDirection\u201d<\/b> section, select \u201cInbound\/Outbound\u201d.<\/b> Then, type \u201c500, 4500\u201d<\/b> for the Remote and Local Ports. When you are finished, click \u201cOK.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n <\/div>\n Select \u201cAddresses from group\u201d<\/b> in the \u201cAddresses\u201d<\/b> area. Then, click the \u201cAdd\u201d<\/b> button. Enter \u201cAnonymizer Universal\u201d<\/b> for the name. Click \u201cAdd\u201d<\/b> in \u201cRemote Addresses\u201d<\/b> and enter \u201c168.143.113.0\/24\u201d<\/b> in the box as the Anonymizer IP Address range (without the quotation marks) and click \u201cOK.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n <\/div>\n Ensure that the \u201cAnonymizer Universal\u201d<\/b> rule is selected in \u201cNetwork service\u201d<\/b> and click \u201cOK.\u201d<\/b> Click \u201cOK\u201d<\/b> again. Scroll to the top of the list of rules and double-click on the folder \u201cPacket rules.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n <\/div>\n Click on the \u201cAnonymizer Universal\u201d<\/b> rule at the bottom of the list and click the \u201cMove up\u201d<\/b> button until \u201cAnonymizer Universal\u201d<\/b> is at the top of the list.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n Click \u201cOK.\u201d<\/b> Then click \u201cApply,\u201d<\/b> and then \u201cOK.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n To ensure your software firewall is not blocking Anonymizer Universal\u201a please configure your McAfee connection so it will allow the Anonymizer Universal connection and unblock VPN traffic. To do so\u201a follow these steps.<\/i><\/p>\n Open your McAfee program and select \u201cFirewall,\u201d<\/b> and then \u201cSettings.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n <\/div>\n Scroll down and choose \u201cProgram Permissions.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n <\/div>\n Scroll down and click \u201cAdd New Program,\u201d<\/b> choose \u201cFull\u201d<\/b> from the dropdown menu under \u201cAccess,\u201d<\/b> and then click \u201cBrowse\u201d<\/b> to add the Anonymizer Universal program.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n Locate the \u201cAnonymizer\u201d<\/b> folder in \u201cProgram Files.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n <\/div>\n Open the \u201cAnonymizer Universal\u201d<\/b> folder.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n Select \u201cAnonymizer Universal\u201d<\/b> (with silver icon).<\/p>\n <\/div>\n Then click \u201cSave.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n <\/div>\n Click \u201cProgram Permissions\u201d<\/b> to minimize, and then \u201cPorts and Systems Services.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n <\/div>\n Scroll down and click \u201cAdd,\u201d<\/b> enter \u201cAnonymizer Universal\u201d<\/b> in the \u201cSystem Service Name\u201d<\/b> and \u201cAU\u201d<\/b> in the \u201cSystem Service Category\u201d<\/b> fields. Leave the \u201cService Description\u201d<\/b> box empty.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n Next, enter \u201c500, 4500, 1701-1702\u201d<\/b> in the \u201cLocal UDP Ports\u201d<\/b> field. Select \u201cAll PCs\u201d<\/b> from the dropdown menu next to \u201cOpen ports to,\u201d<\/b> and then click \u201cSave.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n <\/div>\n Ensure that the rule is checked and shown as below.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n Next, using the scrollbar on the right, scroll down and click on \u201cConnections.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n <\/div>\n Click \u201cAdd.\u201d<\/b> You will see the screen below.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n Under \u201cIP Address Version,\u201d<\/b> select \u201cRange,\u201d<\/b> and enter \u201c168.143.113.0\u201d<\/b> in the \u201cFrom\u201d<\/b> field, and \u201c168.143.113.255\u201d<\/b> in the \u201cTo\u201d<\/b> field as shown below.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n Scroll down and select \u201cHome\u201d<\/b> from the dropdown menu next to \u201cConnection Protection Type.\u201d<\/b> In the \u201cDescription\u201d<\/b> box, type \u201cAnonymizer servers.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n <\/div>\n Click \u201cSave,\u201d<\/b> and close your McAfee software.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Restart your computer.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Open Anonymizer Universal and attempt to connect.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n To ensure your software firewall is not blocking Anonymizer Universal\u201a please configure your Windows firewall connection so it will allow the Anonymizer Universal connection. To do so\u201a follow these steps.<\/i><\/p>\n Click on \u201cStart.\u201d<\/b> Then \u201cControl Panel.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n <\/div>\n Open the \u201cWindows Firewall\u201d<\/b> (Classic View) or \u201cSecurity Center\u201d<\/b> then \u201cWindows Firewall\u201d<\/b> (Category View).<\/p>\n <\/div>\n If the Windows Firewall status is \u201cON (recommended),\u201d<\/b> select the \u201cExceptions\u201d<\/b> tab.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n Look for Anonymizer Universal in the \u201cPrograms and Services\u201d<\/b> list. If there, it must have a check in the box to be exempt from the Firewall. If checked, click \u201cOK,\u201d<\/b> close the \u201cSecurity Center\u201d<\/b> (if open) and the \u201cControl Panel.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n Please note: If you are using a third party firewall in addition to or in place of the Windows firewall or see the message,\u201cThese settings are being managed by vendor application\u2026,\u201d<\/b> configure the other firewall. Look for your firewall application for configuration instructions above. If your firewall or security suite is not found, email Technical Support for assistance. If you are using a router, see the Firewall – Hardware<\/a> as this may also require configuration.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n If Anonymizer Universal is not listed, click on \u201cAdd Program\u2026\u201d<\/b> then select it from the \u201cPrograms\u201d<\/b> list or use the \u201cBrowse\u201d<\/b> button to locate Anonymizer Universal.exe.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n If using \u201cBrowse,\u201d<\/b> once found, click \u201cOpen,\u201d<\/b> then \u201cOK.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n <\/div>\n Anonymizer Universal will be added to \u201cPrograms and Services\u2026\u201d<\/b> and will be checked. Click \u201cOK,\u201d<\/b> close the \u201cControl Panel\u201d<\/b> or \u201cSecurity Center\u201d<\/b> then \u201cControl Panel.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n Click on \u201cStart.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n <\/div>\n Then on \u201cControl Panel.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n If in \u201cCategory\u201d<\/b> view, switch to one of the icon views.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n Open the \u201cWindows Firewall.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n <\/div>\n Select \u201cAllow a program or Feature through Windows Firewall.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n Please note: If you are using a third party firewall in addition to or in place of the Windows firewall or see the message,\u201cThese settings are being managed by vendor application\u2026,\u201d<\/b> configure the other firewall.
