In Windows 8, Anonymizer Universal will open a minimized Windows Network Connections window the first time you connect using OpenVPN. This is due to a bug in how Windows 8 loads network adapters at startup. The Network Connections window only needs to be opened once each time you reboot your computer, and may be freely closed at any time. Anonymizer Universal is not compatible with Windows 8 RT or the Microsoft Surface™ with Windows RT due to Microsoft’s restrictions on software for Windows RT.

Significant improvements were made to OpenVPN Automatic mode. A bug was fixed that prevented UDP connections from failing over to TCP when UDP was blocked or unavailable. The connection will now automatically fail over to an alternate protocol if the server does not respond within 20 seconds. This makes Automatic mode much more usable in a mobile environment, where UDP may be blocked.

* Important Note for Windows XP Users: The updated version of Anonymizer Universal uses the Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0. If this is not already installed on your computer, it will be automatically installed with the update.
